about david

David Benoit was born in Ottawa, Canada in 1951 and is fluent in both French and English. He has been practicing law for more than 25 years with a primary focus on personal injury.

David graduated from the University of New Orleans in 1985 before earning his law degree from Tulane Law School in 1988. He began practicing law at Domengeaux & Wright in Lafayette, LA, before setting out on his own and establishing a practice in Breaux Bridge in 1990.

Before graduating from the University of New Orleans, David worked at various occupations mostly related to the maritime industry – including shipboard assignments.

From 1973 until 1988, he was a member of the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers Local 37, engaged primarily in ship repair and oil refinery maintenance. David also worked as a painting contractor while attending undergraduate school.

David has been married for 31 years to Jacqueline “Jackie” Sipos, who is also the practice's office manager and bookkeeper. Jackie is a devoted animal lover, terrific cook, and avid gardener. Together, they have a house full of dogs and cats that occupy lots of their time.

David enjoys fooling around with old motorcycles and is a passionate, if marginally skilled, pool player. He also spends his time reading newspapers and magazines and fancies himself a handyman.
